Every Computer has storage. Everything needs a space to hold its OS, or applications.
So many times when people want to upgrade their systems they ill focus on Memory or the CPU or a new Graphics card but they neglect their storage drive.
Your Computers OS speed is very strongly correlated with your storage speed. If you still operate your computer with the primary drive residing on a HDD you need to make some changes. SSDs or Solid State Drives are no longer prohibitively expensive. You can get a mid range drive for less than $35. Links below.
But these very simple drives can provide such a Quality of Life improvement that you may not even have known was necessary.
I recently upgraded an old HP 6000 pro tower. It moved so slowly and wasn’t very good for anything. I then put a SSD in it and the PC has been preforming very well. I also added a graphics card (Nvidia 780). The gaming performance isn’t epic but certainly playable.
It just goes to show that the Bottlenecks on these older PCs has rested on their storage drives, not their CPUs even a 3rd gen intel i5.
Make the upgrade. It’s worth it.
