Why do some people refuse to change.
Why do they put off things that would improve their lifestyle or health?
What is it that makes people so reluctant to embrace new things?
People are afraid of change. They do not want to relearn something. If they are already comfortable with something else then they will want to stay with that thing as long as possible.
I recently had to swap a computer for an individual I work with. They had a HP ProBook 6470b Laptop from 2012. It was slow, the keys were broken and the screen was giving out. The morning they brought it to me, it wouldn’t turn on anymore. It had finally given its last breath and they were ready for a new device. I was able to put them on another laptop, but this time it was a HP ProBook 440 G9 (2022). That is a decade of differences and new technologies. The first things they said once we were loaded in was, “the screen is so bright”. They Love the new machine and are talking about how wonderful it is compared to the older one.
But had I asked them to switch a week earlier, as i had done many times, they would have complained about the hassle of switching and how the 6470b was still a great machine and so on.
Sometimes people would rather stay with something that is familiar and broken versus something new and foreign.
Don’t be afraid of change, and don’t be too quick to cast away that which has been faithfully working. Find a balance where you can adopt new things with out abandoning the robust process of times past.
